Irish DPC fines Instagram for violating children’s privacy

Instagram was fined 405 million euros for violating children’s privacy rights under the European Union General Data Protection Regulation by Ireland’s Data Protection Authority. Potent violations concerns Instagram’s settings for children, exposing phone numbers and email addresses. A Meta official said that the fine relates to "old settings that we updated over a year ago and we've since released many new features to help keep teens safe and their information private".
