NHS Trust shared the email addresses of several people who participated in a COVID-19 vaccine trial. During this experience, the Midlands Partnership NHS Trust sent an email to data subjects, in which they were able to access/know the email addresses of all recipients. The incident was duly signaled, giving rise to an investigation, in which it was concluded that the incident had human origins. The case was reported to the data protection oversight body, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). The data breach occurred last month when a member of the administration team sent an email to people who participated in the experiment. The team's working methods were reviewed, and the member of management who caused the data breach was trained in the area. An NHS Trust spokesperson lamented this and informed that the ICO had accepted the measures taken. ICO also informed that, after analyzing the event, it provided the necessary recommendations on data protection, and closed the process without any further action.
