Online third-party data sharing intensifies due to the pandemic

Niam Yaraghi, nonresident senior fellow of the Center for Technology Innovation, and research assistant Samantha Lai published their research which shows an intensification of the extent of third-party data sharing by websites as the COVID-19 pandemic progressed. In the conclusion of the research, it is stated that “Amid national discussions about the potential legislation aimed to protect users’ privacy, the insights of our research suggest that attention should also be paid to the impact of the pandemic on elevating online privacy threats, and the variation in third-party tracking among different types of websites.”
