Privacy and security features from the new Apple iOS 15 update

Through the introduction of these new features, it's safe to say that Apple is one of the top companies when it comes to privacy and security. Ensuring the performance of transparency and data security obligations and supplying users with tools, Apple aims for clients' control for their own personal data.

Here are some of these new featues and how you can use them:

Hide your IP Address when using Safari

What does it mean? iOS15 and iPadOS15 are displaying us with a Intelligent Tracking Prevention that prevents websites and third parties from identifying your IP address.

Why is this important? Through our IP Address, websites and companies can use our personal data t0 build an online profile and even track you.

How to use it? Settings > Safari > Hide IP Address > Tracker Only.

Mail Privacy Protection

What does it mean? This feature keep your IP Address and e-mail actions safe from third-parties who insert tracking pixels into their messages.

Why is this important? Tracking pixels control e-mail actions. A tracking pixel is an invisible and remote image that returns to the sender's server when you open an e-mail. Through this feature, the sender gets access to when and where the e-mail was opened, including the IP Address, your location, etc. Mail Privacy Protection blocks the tracking pixels, your IP Address and your location. This feature makes tracking pixels completely useless, promoting your safety and protection.

How to use it? Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection > Turn on Protect Mail Privacy + Hide IP Address.

App Privacy Report

What does it mean? The App Privacy Report shows you which apps accessed your iPhone's sensors and cameras in the last seven days. This report includes the data which your apps have been accessing and where it's being sent to.

Why is this important? Most apps have access to cameras, photos, location and microphones. Some of these apps can have access to other data, sending the data to third-party services and advertisers. The App Privacy Report shows you exactly what each app has access to and the data that it's exporting.

How to use it? Settings > Privacy > App Privacy Report. You can choose any app listed and tap on it to see which apps are accessing your data.

Siri requests are now being processed on your device

What does it mean? Siri is now processing your requests on your device itself, rather than sending the data to Apple’s servers to process.

Why is this important? Siri can be a very useful feature, but traditionally it works by sending your requests to remote servers to process them, which can be a potential privacy threat. Keeping the process of your information on your device, this threat is eliminated.

How to use it? It's not necessary to turn on any feature to activate Siri's On-Device processing. This feature is automatically inserted in any iPhone (XS, XR or any more recent) or in any iPad (with an A12 chip or any more recent).
