Did you know that everything you share on social medial becomes public? Posting, publishing or sharing anything on social media leads to the same concept of publishing to a newspaper. This means that as soon as you post something on social media, there is a complete loss of information tracking. If the content contains crime evidence, the information can be used against the one who posted the content. Remember this every time you post something on-line.
Here are some ways to protect your information on social media, ensuring a safety use:
1. Pick more strict privacy settings;
2. Don't mention your phone number or address on your profile or in your posts; 3. Avoid sharing information containing places, children or sensitive content; 4. Confirm the veracity of the news you share - always check the source; 5. Don't open suspicious links or posts - some may actually be phishing or malware;
6. Accept only information from people you know;
7. Choose unique and complex passwords to access social media and change them frequently; 8. Activate the auto-lock on your smartphone and the use of a PIN or password; 9. Don't login to other services through social media accounts.
